Parent Partner Program
Sponsored by The Mental Health Association in Tompkins County, The Parent Partner Program is a non-profit, community-based support and education program for parents and caretakers of young people who are or have been in treatment for eating disorders.
These two sessions will essentially present “an overview, Eating Disorders 101” class, and will provide support tips for carers. Professionals wanting to learn more about eating disorders are welcome. Professional treatment team representatives from the fields of medicine, nutrition and psychology present the program.
The Parent Partner Program also includes a candid DVD interview with Mary Ellen and Dan Clausen. Mary Ellen is the Founder and Director of Ophelia’s Place in Liverpool, New York. The Clausens generously share their experiences parenting their two daughters with eating disorders. Group discussion points are included.
This 6-hour program will be presented in two 3-hour sessions at Cornell Cooperative Extension, 615 Willow Avenue, Ithaca, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
The fee per family or individual is $30.00, or a sliding scale as needed.
